ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱمْرَأَتَ نُوحٍ وَٱمْرَأَتَ لُوطٍ كَانَتَا تَحْتَ عَبْدَيْنِ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا صَـٰلِحَيْنِ فَخَانَتَاهُمَا فَلَمْ يُغْنِيَا عَنْهُمَا مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا وَقِيلَ ٱدْخُلَا ٱلنَّارَ مَعَ ٱلدَّٰخِلِينَ

God cites examples of the unfaithful, the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot; they were with two of our righteous servants, but they betrayed them; therefore, nothing could help them against God, and they were told; enter Hell both of you along with others who enter.

وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱمْرَأَتَ فِرْعَوْنَ إِذْ قَالَتْ رَبِّ ٱبْنِ لِى عِندَكَ بَيْتًا فِى ٱلْجَنَّةِ وَنَجِّنِى مِن فِرْعَوْنَ وَعَمَلِهِۦ وَنَجِّنِى مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

And God cites the example of the faithful, the wife of Pharaoh, as she said, Lord build for me, at your site, a mansion in Paradise and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds and save me from the transgressing people.

وَمَرْيَمَ ٱبْنَتَ عِمْرَٰنَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِنَا وَصَدَّقَتْ بِكَلِمَـٰتِ رَبِّهَا وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ ٱلْقَـٰنِتِينَ

And Mary, the daughter of Imran, who remained virtuous, and We blew into her from Our Spirit; and she remained truthful to her Lord’s words and His scriptures and was one of the obedient ones.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God; The All-Gracious, The All-Merciful.

تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِ ٱلْمُلْكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Blessed is the One in whose hand is the kingship and He is All Powerful over all things.

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَٱلْحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفُورُ

He is the One who created death and life in order to distinguish those who do better deeds. And He is The Almighty, The All Forgiver. 

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍ طِبَاقًا مَّا تَرَىٰ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مِن تَفَـٰوُتٍ فَٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ هَلْ تَرَىٰ مِن فُطُورٍ

He is the One who created the seven vacua in layers. You never see any contradictions in the creation of The All Gracious. Go ahead, take a look; do you see any flaw?

ثُمَّ ٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيْنِ يَنقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٌ

Look again and again, your eyes will come back to you subdued and amazed.

وَلَقَدْ زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِمَصَـٰبِيحَ وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا رُجُومًا لِّلشَّيَـٰطِينِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

And we have surely adorned the lowest vacuum with lamps, and We have placed therein projectiles for the demons. And We have prepared for them the suffering of the raging inferno.

وَلِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

And similarly for those who have no faith in their Lord, there will be the suffering of Gehenna, and a miserable destiny.

إِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ فِيهَا سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا شَهِيقًا وَهِىَ تَفُورُ

As they are thrown in there, they hear its rage as it explodes. 

تَكَادُ تَمَيَّزُ مِنَ ٱلْغَيْظِ كُلَّمَآ أُلْقِىَ فِيهَا فَوْجٌ سَأَلَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَآ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَذِيرٌ

It almost bursts from rage. Each time a group is thrown therein, its guardians ask, did you not receive a warner? 

قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ قَدْ جَآءَنَا نَذِيرٌ فَكَذَّبْنَا وَقُلْنَا مَا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَىْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ كَبِيرٍ

They say, yes indeed a warner came to us, but we rejected him and said, God has not revealed a thing, you are completely astray. 

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِىٓ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

They also said, had we listened or used our intelligence, we would not be amongst the dwellers of the raging inferno.

فَٱعْتَرَفُوا۟ بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسُحْقًا لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

They thus confess their sins; however, there will be no forgiveness for the dwellers of the raging inferno.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ

As for those who fear their Lord in their hearts, they have deserved forgiveness and a great recompense. 

وَأَسِرُّوا۟ قَوْلَكُمْ أَوِ ٱجْهَرُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ

No matter whether you keep your word secret or declare it, He is indeed fully knowledgeable of the innermost thoughts.

أَلَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ

Would He not know of the one He has created? He is All Kind, All Cognizant.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ ذَلُولًا فَٱمْشُوا۟ فِى مَنَاكِبِهَا وَكُلُوا۟ مِن رِّزْقِهِۦ وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلنُّشُورُ

He is the One who made the land habitable for you, so roam through its paths and eat from His provisions, and to Him is the summoning.  

ءَأَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يَخْسِفَ بِكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَمُورُ

Are you completely sure that the One in the sky would not cause the ground to cover you as it trembles?

أَمْ أَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ كَيْفَ نَذِيرِ

Or, are you completely sure that the One in the sky would not send a storm upon you so that you will know the consequences of the warnings? 

وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ

And surely those before them rejected the truth, therefore, how terrible was the consequence for the rejecters. 

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّيْرِ فَوْقَهُمْ صَـٰٓفَّـٰتٍ وَيَقْبِضْنَ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍۭ بَصِيرٌ

Do they not see the birds above them, extending and folding their wings? None can hold them except The All Gracious. Surely He is All Seer over all things.

أَمَّنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ جُندٌ لَّكُمْ يَنصُرُكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ إِنِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ إِلَّا فِى غُرُورٍ

Who is going to provide an army to protect you besides The All Gracious?  Indeed the unfaithful are taken by an illusion. 

أَمَّنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَرْزُقُكُمْ إِنْ أَمْسَكَ رِزْقَهُۥ بَل لَّجُّوا۟ فِى عُتُوٍّ وَنُفُورٍ

Who is there to provide for you if He were to withhold His provision? However, they stubbornly insist on rebellion and hatred.                    

أَفَمَن يَمْشِى مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦٓ أَهْدَىٰٓ أَمَّن يَمْشِى سَوِيًّا عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

Therefore, is the one who stumbles while walking and falls on his face better guided, or the one who walks evenly on a straight path? 

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَكُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ

Say, He is the One who created you, and gave you the hearing, the eyesight and the mind. Rarely are you appreciative. 

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ

Say, He is the One who has spread you throughout the land, and to Him you will be summoned. 

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ

They also say, when will this promise be fulfilled if you are truthful? 

قُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْعِلْمُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

Say, its knowledge is indeed with God and I am only a manifest warner.  

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةً سِيٓـَٔتْ وُجُوهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقِيلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَدَّعُونَ

Then once they see it near, grief will cover the faces of the unfaithful, and they will be told, this is what you were asking for. 

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن مَّعِىَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَن يُجِيرُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

Say, do you realize if God were to annihilate me and everyone with me, or if He grants us mercy; who will then save the unfaithful from a painful suffering?

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ

Say, He is The All Gracious, we have faith in Him, and in Him we trust. You will soon find out who is in manifest straying. 

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَصْبَحَ مَآؤُكُمْ غَوْرًا فَمَن يَأْتِيكُم بِمَآءٍ مَّعِينٍۭ

Say, do you realize if your water sinks into the ground, who would then supply you with flowing water?

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God; The All-Gracious, The All-Merciful.

نٓ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ

Nün, by Nün. By the pen and what they write.

مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ

Regarding your Lord’s blessings, you are not crazy.

وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ

And indeed there will be a well deserved recompense for you.

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ

And you possess a great moral character.

فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ

You will soon see and they will also see-

بِأَييِّكُمُ ٱلْمَفْتُونُ

-which one of you is being tested.

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ

Indeed your Lord knows best who has strayed off His path, and He knows best the guided ones.

فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Therefore, do not obey the rejecters.

وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ

They love to compromise so that you may compromise.

وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ

And do not obey every lowly swearer,-

هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍ

-a slanderer, a ubiquitous backbiter, a malicious gossiper,-

مَّنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ

-forbidder of righteousness, transgressor, sinner.

عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ

Cruel and utterly useless,-

أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ

-although he possesses money and sons.

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

When Our proofs are recited to him, he says, tales from the past.
