Quran

فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ

Then they all will be awakened.

هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ

Have you heard the story of Moses?

إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى

When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa.

ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ

Go to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed.

فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ

And ask him; would you move towards purification?

وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ

And; I lead you to your Lord, so that you may attain reverence.

فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ

I will then show you a great sign.

فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ

However, he rejected it and rebelled.

ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ

He turned his back, running away.

فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ

He then gathered an audience and proclaimed.

فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

He then said; I am your lord, the most exalted.

فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ

Therefore God punished him, an exemplary punishment in the Hereafter as well as this life.

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ

Indeed in this, there is a lesson for those who are reverent.

ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ بَنَىٰهَا

Are you more difficult to create or the vacuum? He has constructed it.

رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا

He raised its ceiling and then balanced it.

وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا

And He darkened its night and brought out its morning.

وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ

And afterwards, He spread the matter throughout.

أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا

He produced from it its water and its pastures.

وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا

And the mountains that He firmly fixed.

مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ

As a provision for you and your livestock.

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ

Then when the great blow comes,-

يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ

-that will be the day when the human being will be reminded of everything he has done.

وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ

And the Inferno will be shown to those who are meant to see it.

فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ

Then, for the one who transgressed-

وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا

-and preferred this worldly life-

فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ

-then indeed the Inferno will be his abode.

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ

As for the one who fears the majesty of his Lord and restrains the soul from desire-

فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ

-then Paradise will be his abode.

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا

They ask you about the Hour, and when it will come to pass.

فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ

Do not preoccupy yourself with its declaration.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ

To your Lord is its final destiny.

إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا

You are only a warner to the one who reverences it.

كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا

The day they see it, it seems as though they only lasted an evening or a morning.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God; The All-Gracious, The All-Merciful.

عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ

He frowned and turned away,-

أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ

-as the blind man approached him.

وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ

And how do you know? He could have purified himself.

أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ

Or he could have taken heed and benefited from the reminder.

أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ

However, as for the one who was rich,-

فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ

-you gave him all your attention.

وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ

While, you could have not done anything to purify him.

وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ

But as for the one who came to you eagerly,-

وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ

-and was reverent,-

فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ

-you did not pay any attention.

كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ

Absolutely, this is indeed a reminder.

فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ

Therefore let those who will, take heed.

فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ

In an honorable record.

مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ

Exalted and pure.

بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ

Delivered by the hands of travelers.

كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍ

Honorable and righteous.
