قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ

Woe to the human being, what made him lose faith?

مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ

From what has He created him?

مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ

He created him from semen; He created him then exactly measured him.

ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ

He then made his task easy.

ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ

Then He put him to death and buried him in the grave.

ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ

Then, when He wills, He will resurrect him.

كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ

Absolutely, he shall never break His commandments.

فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ

Therefore let the human being look at his food.

أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا

Indeed We pour the water generously.

ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا

We then split the ground with cracks.

فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا

We then grow therein grains,-

وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا

-and grapes and pastures,-

وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا

-and olives and dates,-

وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا

-and dense orchards,-

وَفَـٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا

-and fruits, all at his disposal.

مَّتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ

All are provisions for you as well as your livestock.

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ

Then when the loud strike comes to pass.

يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ

That will be the day when man will flee from his brother-

وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ

-and from his mother and his father,-

وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ

-and from his wife and his children.

لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ

Each one of them on that day will worry about his own neck.

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ

Some faces on that day will be radiating,-

ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ

-laughing, rejoicing.

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ

And other faces on that day will be dull.

تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ

Covered by darkness.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ

These are the unfaithful, the evildoers.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God; The All-Gracious, The All-Merciful.

إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ

When the sun is rolled away.

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ

And when the stars stop shining.

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ

And when the mountains are set in motion.

وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ

And when the reproduction is discontinued.

وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ

And when the animals are summoned.

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ

And when the oceans boil over.

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ

And when the souls are paired up.

وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ

And when the female baby who was buried alive, is asked-

بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْ

-for what crime she was killed.

وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ

And when the records are opened.

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ

And when the vacuum is ruptured.

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ

And when the Inferno is ignited.

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ

And when paradise is brought nearer.

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ

Every soul will know what she has prepared for herself.

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ

I therefore swear by the planets,-

ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ

-perfectly moving in their orbits.

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ

And by the night as it passes.

وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ

And by the fresh breath of the morning.

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ

This is indeed the utterance of an honorable messenger.

ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ

Endowed with power from the Possessor of the firm throne.

مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ

He should be obeyed and trusted.

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ

And your friend is not crazy.

وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ

And indeed he saw Him at the clear horizon.
