وَلَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ عَـٰهَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مِن قَبْلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ ٱللَّهِ مَسْـُٔولًا
Even though they had promised God previously that they would never turn their backs. And one is responsible for a promise to God.
