Verse 28

فَلَوْلَا نَصَرَهُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ قُرْبَانًا ءَالِهَةًۢ بَلْ ضَلُّوا۟ عَنْهُمْ وَذَٰلِكَ إِفْكُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ

Therefore, why was not there any help for them from gods besides God whom they implored to bring them closer to Him? On the contrary, they abandoned them. And such was their concoction, and their fabrication.
